Hope House Home for Boys

The cards that I sell here in Chapala and Ajijic, Mexico benefit the dental program for the boys at Hope House in the nearby village of Ixlahuacan. There are close to 30 boys at the home and many of them come to the home having received no dental treatment. If you live here at Lakeside and would like to order a quality, hand crafted card for a special occasion and help me contribute to this worthy cause, please e-mail me at bettyinchapala@yahoo.com Card price is 50 pesos; the entire sales price is donated to Hope House.

Thank You ABC Christmas Challenge!

I received a package via Royal Mail yesterday and Christmas goodies were awaiting me inside!! I won secret candy on Jayne's blog during the hop at the end of the year for ABC Christmas Challenge and I am definitely a lucky gal! Take a look at what I received -- stamps, papers, punch outs and ribbon; such beautiful patterns, red foil accents, and terrific stamps -- a snow globe, mittens, a skate, and reindeer to name a few! It will be such a pleasure working with these materials as I make my cards for Christmas, 2011! Thank you Jayne, Helen, Samantha and everyone at ABC Christmas Challenge!

A Christmas CASE of Joy

Over at thehousethatstampsbuilt.com the challenge is to CASE this card by Joy Hadden that is shown at the right.
I cased Joy's layout and also followed ABC's Christmas Challenge to use black and white, with only the image having color. I attempted to make "brads" but was not thrilled with the outcome so I just punched a little black circle and added pearls in the middle! Other tools used were a Cuttlebug embossing folder, two punches from Stampin' Up (scallop border and tiny circle) and nestabilities from Spellbinders. My focal image is a stamp I picked up from the $1 bin at Michael's a couple of years ago. Okay, I just read all the instructions about the ABC challenge and we were supposed to use the freebie Dustin Pike image, so if you enter their challenge, be sure to read all the rules!! I may not be able to win a prize, but I do have another Christmas card done and that's a prize in itself!!
Yall come back now, 'ya hear!

7 Kids Christmas Presents

I have two more cards for you today. The first is for 7 Kids College Fund very first challenge. The criteria are to use pink and dots and stamps that can be found in their shop. I used two different patterned papers with dots and then embossed dots (Tiny Bubbles Cuttlebug ef) on a piece of Regal Rose. My stamp is from Inkadinkado, Flourishes Inchies, which can be found here. Hop on over to the 7 Kids site and support their first challenge!

My next card features an image from Mo's Digital Pencil. I finished up my card about two hours too late to enter Mo's Christmas challenge but since this little sweetheart is carrying an armload of presents, she qualifies for ABC Christmas Challenge -- P is for Presents.

On another note, I have a box of 60 cards ready to seal up and send off to Operation Write Home. It will go with prayers for the safety of those who will use the cards (deployed troops) and comfort for those who will receive them (families of our troops).

Till later,
Betty

P is for Presents

P is for Presents over at the ABC Christmas Challenge site and there is an option of adding lace to your card if you would like. Glad it's an option, cause I forgot about it till just now!! lol
I used my Lacy (hey, maybe this will count for the lace!!) Tree Cuttlebug embossing folder for the tree (does it remind you at all of the retro silver trees with blue ornaments????). I had misplaced this folder last December and have been wondering where in the world it could be -- well, I went to stamp with a friend this past Thursday and found it in my Big Shot carrying bag! I knew it was going to turn up somewhere!!!
The presents were stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with sparkly clear powder and then cut out to put "under the tree". Ribbon to decorate the top of the tree and my card is complete!

Thanks for stopping by,
Betty

ABC...

Patti J. turned me on to a "new to me" challenge -- the ABC Christmas Challenge. This week the letter of the alphabet is "O" and we are to make a card with ornaments; but we also have to have gloss and shine. I stamped my imnage and then covered the ornaments with Crystal Effects and sprinkled with a bit a glitter. I also have some shiny gold card stock, along with a gold embossed sentiment. Thanks Patti -- I enjoyed making this glossy and shiny card. Hoping they have a record of all their challenges; I may have to start with "A" and work forward!
