Hope House Home for Boys

The cards that I sell here in Chapala and Ajijic, Mexico benefit the dental program for the boys at Hope House in the nearby village of Ixlahuacan. There are close to 30 boys at the home and many of them come to the home having received no dental treatment. If you live here at Lakeside and would like to order a quality, hand crafted card for a special occasion and help me contribute to this worthy cause, please e-mail me at bettyinchapala@yahoo.com Card price is 50 pesos; the entire sales price is donated to Hope House.

Hey there, Chickadee

My card today was made for the following challenges:
1. Annabelle Stamps -- say it with "a bow"
2. EmbellishMagazine -- color challenge Seafoam, Peach, Cream, Kraft; and using a quirky, cutesy, clean style
3. Clean and Simple Sketch Challenge 104
I used stamps from Stampin' Up (Happiness) and Papertrey Ink (Everyday Button Bits).
Hope you enjoy my card as well as the soldier who will use it to send home to a family member or loved one. Guess that tells you that it will be going to Operation Write Home.

Bye for now,
Betty

Butterfly Hi!

The color challenge that I used for this card is from Embellish Magazine. Colors specified by the challenge are Sea Foam, Dark Brown, Yellow Green and Terra Cotta. The card is to have some dimension so the sentiment is popped up with a mounting pad. The sketch is from AnnaBelle Stamps. Butterfly stamp is Stampin'Up, God's Beauty. The sentiment (which is a little hard to see) is the Hi stamp from Say It With Scallops; I used a circle punch to cut it out so it is "sans scallops"!

Have a great week all,
Betty

Saturday in the Seventies

Now, I'm not talking about the decade, but the temperature! It was a lovely day and I walked around and saw evidence of new growth on many of the trees and plants. Wildflowers are beginning to peek out too, along the roadways. I've been having sinus problems so these are probably the culprits, but I'm still so glad to see spring coming!

Couldn't let the day pass without making a card, so I decided to do one for an Embellish Magazine challenge to use fabric and the colors Red, Kraft, Blue and Green. The apples on the white and blue striped material is the fabric, which I adhered to a piece of cardstock and cut out with a nestability. I used Cuttlebug's Candy Cane Stripes embossing foldervto emboss the kraft paper. All papers and ink are Stampin' Up (Kraft, Night of Navy, Real Red and Garden Green)
A navy ribbon was used along the side with tiny pearls. Larger pearls were used in the corners, colored blue and green with Bic Markers.

Hope you had a wonderful day too!
Betty

A Square Card

Hello friends! The sketch for this card is from Jennie Harper over at stampTV. I had a lot of fun with this sketch, and even though my card is CAS, it seemed to take longer to put together. Still, I think it was worth a little extra trouble!! Embellish Magazine extended a challenge to use turquoise, brown, and pink and to add ribbon and I loved working with these colors. Hope you enjoy them and my card too! Oh, yes, I cut out my ovals with Nestabilities and the stamp is from the set Friendship Blooms by Stampin' Up.

PS Be sure to take a look at my friend Dee Marie's birthday blog candy to the left of this post. She's having a birthday next week and wants to gift a special someone with some stamping goodies. Click on the photo to go to her blog and enter!

I'm Lovin' This Sketch

The sketch comes from Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 53 and the color challenge is from Embellish Magazine to use kraft, brown, purple and stripes. I was so happy with the way this card turned out -- I debated on adding rhinestones for embellishment but decided that I didn't want to do anything else to it; maybe next time I will! The stamps are from Stampin' Up; God's Beauty (butterfly) and Sincere Salutations. Paper is Perfect Plum, Kraft, and Chocolate Chip from SU; patterned paper is unknown from my stash of papers. Please come back and visit again!!
