Hope House Home for Boys

The cards that I sell here in Chapala and Ajijic, Mexico benefit the dental program for the boys at Hope House in the nearby village of Ixlahuacan. There are close to 30 boys at the home and many of them come to the home having received no dental treatment. If you live here at Lakeside and would like to order a quality, hand crafted card for a special occasion and help me contribute to this worthy cause, please e-mail me at bettyinchapala@yahoo.com Card price is 50 pesos; the entire sales price is donated to Hope House.

Steadfast Love of the LORD

I've got to get this one posted today to meet tomorrow's deadline for the challenge at Joan's Gardens. Here are Joan's challenge requirements:
1. Use Butterflies
2. Use some type of scallops or lattice
3. Use yellow or gold colors
4. Use patterned paper for your background.

I have used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches, challenge #32. Here is their wonderful sketch.

I would also like to link up this card to Word Art Wednesday, a challenge site dedicated to encouraging, uplifting messages on cards. They give you a beautiful piece of word art to work each week with but you can also enter any card with scriptures or encouraging and uplifting words.

My card was made with the cover plate quatrefoil die by Papertrey Ink. I trimmed the cut piece since I didn't need it to cover the entire card. This wonderful scripture stamp came from Layers of Color, a stamp set called Encouragement. The butterflies are made with a Marvy punch and small yellow pearls.

For those of you who know that I sell my cards at a market on Mondays to raise funds for dental care for a boys home in a nearby village, it was a pretty slow day yesterday BUT I received an email this morning from a friend who wants me to make 9 cards for her so that really encouraged me! There are two new boys at the home and these two plus two more will be taken to the dentist on Friday.

Have a wonderful day everyone,
Betty

Butterflies

I was a little to late getting this card made for the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches but will try to do better this week. Don't you just love this brilliant butterfly? All I had to do was print and cut it out. I had two others cut out but they were too large for the space so I had to stamp a couple of little ones (Martha Stewart stamp).  They are all popped up with dimensionals. The brown "leather look" background was leftover from my first attempt at the cowboy card I posted yesterday and adding the blue made it perfect for the Designer's Choice Challenge at Repeat Impressions, to use the colors brown and blue. I colored the pearls with a Bic marker to match the butterfly. I thought a sentiment on the front might distract the eye from the butterfly so I decided that I would stamp the inside when I decide how it will be used.

I was honored to have the vintage collage card that I made for the Roses December Challenge featured by Karen at The Graphics Fairy yesterday. It was also nice to have lots of visitors come by my blog to get the details of the card. Thanks, Sue, for giving us Roses a great challenge and thank you, Karen, for showcasing my card on your blog; your images made it possible to create my collage card with relative ease!

I know it's Tuesday but I'm working on Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday today. Hope you'll come back tomorrow to see how it turns out!!
