Hope House Home for Boys

The cards that I sell here in Chapala and Ajijic, Mexico benefit the dental program for the boys at Hope House in the nearby village of Ixlahuacan. There are close to 30 boys at the home and many of them come to the home having received no dental treatment. If you live here at Lakeside and would like to order a quality, hand crafted card for a special occasion and help me contribute to this worthy cause, please e-mail me at bettyinchapala@yahoo.com Card price is 50 pesos; the entire sales price is donated to Hope House.

Out on a Limb

This is my card for the Jolly Holiday Greetings Challenge in the Moxie Fab World. We had a set of these bird ornaments when I was a kid and they were always my favorites -- the first thing I would grab to put on the Christmas tree. They didn't all survive but I still have one that holds a place of honor on my tree each year. So this particular stamp was the first thing that caught my eye in this set by Flourishes, All That Glitters. The inside sentiment is from Gina K. Designs, Festive Frame, illustrated by Melanie Muenchinger. My stack of Christmas cards is getting larger, I'm pleased to say. Dare I hope that I can send each person on my list a unique card this year???? We'll see!

Metallic Beauty

This is the beautiful trigger for Moxie Fab's Tuesday Trigger
and here's my card.
I love that beautiful little chest! It just struck a chord in my heart (could it have been my mojo returning??) and I knew what I wanted to do with my card. The gold and copper pieces were embossed with Cuttlebug folders and then I layered a regular piece of cardstock with 4 or 5 layers of silver embossing power and then did an impression of the "love" stamp. The small rhinestones and silver charms finish off the silver layer (it looks bluish, but is actually a piece of textured silver paper). Made a double loop bow with my BowEasy and some sparkly ribbon. Hope you enjoy the card -- I sure did enjoy making it!!

Are You Ready for Some Pop-Art?

This wall hanging is Moxie Fab's Tuesday Trigger. And here is my card --

I guess I took it pretty literally but when I saw the trigger I immediately thought of several Stampin' Up stamps in my collection.
This is also a perfect card for Stampin B's challenge to use dots!
The stamps I have used come from the following SU sets:
1 Bloomin' Wonderful
2 Beho Backgrounds
3 Bursting With Joy
4 Punched Tin
5 In the Spotlight
6 Bold Flowers by Gina K. Designs
I don't think I have ever used that many stamp sets to make one card before! I also used a QuicKutz die, "Ornament". Although you can't see it in the photo, there are three different layers for the shapes and it makes it quite interesting!

Come back again,

Moxie Fab Inchies

After reading more thoroughly over at the Tuesday Trigger at Moxie Fab I think I got the colors wrong on this card -- should have been pink and blue but they looked more groovy guava and tempting turquoise to me! Anyhoo -- this is my card and that's the way it is!! It's hard to tell but the inchies are popped up on the turquoise panel; so is the sentiment and the turquoise frame. Stamps are Inkadinkado Flourishes, flower is Studio G and corner flourish is Stampin' Up's Doodle This. I picked up the inchie sketch at Ellen Hutson's Inchie Inklings with Lisa. First time I've been there; this is challenge 6 and 1-5 are great sketches too! Check it out if you like inchies!

Two Projects to Share

Today is the last day for the Three Cheers for Chairs Challenge in the Moxie Fab World. This chair is a free digi image from Bird's Cards and was printed on "leather-like" paper and cut out; after coloring the wood portion, I popped the leather chair seat back on. I also punched several little circles for the "tufted buttons" and adhered them onto the back of the chair. The sentiment reads "Rest, Relax, Recover"; "Hope You're Feeling Better Soon!" and was computer generated.

My next project is a Matchbook Cover for a small gift. Karen threw out this challenge over at stampTV on the Anything But a Card challenge. I had a bit of trouble with the measurements but finally got things to work and was very pleased with the outcome. It's a perfect little gift holder! Don't you just adore this ribbon that I picked up on sale at Michael's?

Hope you enjoyed these and are having a lovely day!

Bee Happy

Hello friends! The sun is shining today -- very appropriate for my card. The bee image is from Stretch 'N Bubbles -- I think she's taking a snooze out there in the sunshine. She's about to wake up though, and fly over to the Moxie Fab site for their sketch challenge and to stampTV for Sharri's Blast From the Past challenge to use glitter. Card base is Whisper White and the yellow layer is from my 12x12 paper stash -- it was so very bright that I had to pull out a layer of vellum to tone it down a bit! The Real Red layer was cut out with nesties and the sentiment is computer generated. A few little light blue rhinestones in the corner to match the "thought bubble" makes it complete!

Shades of Rose

The card sketch that I have used here is from Midnight Madness 46. Card base is Stampin' Up Old Olive and the patterned papers are from My Mind's Eye, Simply Delightful. Image is stamped twice, on Very Vanilla and on the darker pattern from My Mind's Eye which I cut out and pieced onto the vanilla card. Border punch is from Martha Stewart. The wider ribbon is Garden Ridge and the smaller is Stampin' Up. Sentiment is from Gina K. Designs, Pressed Flowers, illustrator Melanie Muenchinger. I will also enter this card in the Moxie Fab challenge for paper piecing.

Copper Butterfly Lace

This card is my entry for the latest Moxie Fab Challenge to use lace as the focal point. I went out to buy some doilies and this is what I found. It's definitely not a doily, but I thought it had a nice lacy effect and best of all, it was on sale!! The card base is Stampin'Up's Always Artichoke and the background is from Pam Lefors Designs. I used bits of metallic cardstock for the frame around the focal image and for the sentiment (which comes from Papertrey Ink's Everyday Button Bits). A bit of copper colored ribbon and brad finish it off. Bye for now!
