Hope House Home for Boys

The cards that I sell here in Chapala and Ajijic, Mexico benefit the dental program for the boys at Hope House in the nearby village of Ixlahuacan. There are close to 30 boys at the home and many of them come to the home having received no dental treatment. If you live here at Lakeside and would like to order a quality, hand crafted card for a special occasion and help me contribute to this worthy cause, please e-mail me at bettyinchapala@yahoo.com Card price is 50 pesos; the entire sales price is donated to Hope House.

Am I Blue?

Well, I'm not blue but my card sure is!! I'd like to enter this card in Annabelle Stamps Bling Sketch Challenge #45, Jellypark Friends Old Year/New Year Challenge to use something old and something new, and For Fun Challenges to show New, Something New.

My "something old" is the lighter color paper that I've embossed with Cuttlebug's Checker Board folder; this is actually one of the first papers I bought when I first started stamping, if you can believe that! And the "something new" is my Papertrey Ink stamp, Background Basics: Gingham. I just got it today, it's that new! Many thanks to my friend Ruthie who brought it down here to me!

Wanted to share another photo with you too. I made another valentine similar to the one I posted yesterday, only reversing the colors -- red where the first card was white and white where the first card was red. I used white embossing powder and versamark to stamp onto the red paper. I also made envelopes for both of the valentines. Love how they all turned out -- my thanks again to Melisa for her inspiration!

Bye for now,
Betty

2011 Class Valentines

This is one of the valentines that I made for the girls in my grandson's 1st grade class. All the girls' valentines were made the same but personalized with their name. The envelope has their name stamped on it and a "DumDum" attached. These valentines were made with the Repeat Impressions Sketch #F911.

The next photo shows the cards I made for the boys. Since I didn't think they'd want anything with hearts and frills, I printed out a colored Dustin Pike image and personalized the greeting. Again, on the envelope I have stamped their name and added a sweet treat!

Valentine Treats

Hi! Just wanted to let you know what I've been working on today. Valentine's Day is coming up and with my daughter going back to work, I volunteered to make the treat holders for Ashton's kindergarten class and for Brianna's day care class. I've burned out on traditional Valentine themes (having done a number of challenges lately) so I decided to make non-traditonal valentines. Looked through my freebie folders and found lots of fantastic animals. I failed to write down the source as I was pulling them but tried to go back and find them again so I could give credit. I may have missed some; I'm truly sorry if I did. Here's all that I could find -- Amerigo Mundi, Cuddlebeez, GTC's Crafty Corner, Pam LeFores, Pink's Poetic Scraps, and Scrappers Emporium. They were already colored so I cut my time considerably!! Thanks, also to Splitcoast Stampers for the tutorial! By the way, the treat inside is a little bag of Zoo Animals Fruit Snacks -- how appropriate is that with the animal theme of the holders!! Betty
