Hope House Home for Boys

The cards that I sell here in Chapala and Ajijic, Mexico benefit the dental program for the boys at Hope House in the nearby village of Ixlahuacan. There are close to 30 boys at the home and many of them come to the home having received no dental treatment. If you live here at Lakeside and would like to order a quality, hand crafted card for a special occasion and help me contribute to this worthy cause, please e-mail me at bettyinchapala@yahoo.com Card price is 50 pesos; the entire sales price is donated to Hope House.

Birthday Memories, Joys, and Dreams

ColourQ is having their 100th challenge this week. To celebrate they are doing things a bit differently.

Clean & Simple Stamping allowed ColourQ to "hijack" their fall-to layout #155 this week! We are to make our cards as per the sketch and use any color combination from the ColourQ's past challenges. I have chosen to use Challenge #20. The colors are Real Red, Brilliant Blue, Tempting Turquoise, Yoyo Yellow and White.
Here is my card. The patterned flowery paper is from K& Company, Lemon Drop 12x12 Designer Paper Pad. I really like the bright colors in this pack. Card stock is from Stampin' Up. The blue has and white have been stamped with a stamp from Gina K. Designs, Nana's Needlework, designed by Nina Brackett. The setiment is also a Gina K. Designs stamp, from the set Inside and Out. A little flower and turquoise rhinestones complete my design.
Hope everyone is having a super day!

Hearts for Speedy's Friends

I have two cards with hearts on them which is the challenge over at Speedy's Friends blog. My first card may not be traditional valentine colors, but orange is my grandson Ashton's favorite color so this will be his valentine. I jotted down the author of this digi when I printed it out but can I find it now????? Of course not! Thought I could find it again at Free Digital Stamps but must be overlooking it somehow -- sorry I can't give credit.

This card was made with the sketch challenge at StampTV. I used three different Gina K. Designs sets -- Wild at Heart, Spring Mix, and Fanciful Tags. Red rhinestones are in the middle of the hearts and the white background is embossed with Cuttlebug's Candy Cane Stripes. I will enter this in the "pink and red" challenge at MelJens Designs. I stamped the flower in white on Real Red cardstock but it looks much more pink than it does white.

Thanks for stopping by,
Betty

Embossed Butterfly

My husband picked up a business card the other day, thinking that I might like to use the embossed butterfly on a card and he was right! I used Gina K. Pure Luxury cardstock (except the border for the butterfly is Stampin' Up cardstock from my scrap paper) and designer paper from the Gina K. Designs Spring Mix StampTV kit. Greeting is from Gina K, You are Not Alone. Greeting cut with Spellbinders Die, Ribbon Tag Trio 2. Ribbon is from Big Lots.

Quick & Sparkly

I do have a card today and it came together quickly since I let the patterned paper do most of the work! It is from Cloud9 Design, Harvest Holiday Glitter Mat Stack. I used a ribbon tag trio from Spellbinders to cut of the greeting but I trimmed off the slot for the ribbon. Lightly stamped the doiley from Gina K. Design's Nana's Needlework for the background and the greeting is from GKD's Eclectic Summer Sayings. A couple of small green rhinestones finished it off.
Picked up a couple of Christmas gifts for the grandkids today but my Christmas shopping is far from finished!!

Make a Card with Scraps

This is my second post today. Melanie Muenchinger issued a challenge on her blog, Hands, Head and Heart. It was to make a card with scraps that are on your desk. Thankfully, I have a "scrap box" on my desk so I was able to get right to work on the challenge! The little round frame is from Pam Lefors Designs. The flower is from My Mind's Eye paper pack, Simply Delightful. I just got the Martha Stewart border punch yesterday and had punched several pieces with it, just waiting for use! I made the layered background papers for another project but decided not to use it so into the scrap box it went! The sentiment is from Gina K. Designs, Many Wishes. I enjoyed your challenge Melanie -- Thanks Bunches!

Color Challenge at StampTV

Found a box outside on my porch this morning and it just couldn't be any better -- new stuff from Gina K. Designs!!! Got the new Lemon Drop Pure Luxury Paper -- I love that color! Paired it up with Lavender Lace from Stampin' Up and Pure Luxury White from Gina K to make this card for Shannon's color challenge at stampTV. I used Melanie Muenchinger's new set Pressed Flowers and expect to be using this set much, much more! Martha Stewart's Arch Lattice Edger Punch made the pretty side borders and I used gold microbeads for the center of the "closest" flower. The beautiful Lemon Drop Pure Luxury Paper is embossed in a Candy Cane Stripe embossing folder by Cuttlebug. The sentiment is also from Melanie's new set and the brads were probably purchased at Hobby Lobby. Hope you enjoy my new card as much as I enjoyed making it!
