Hope House Home for Boys

The cards that I sell here in Chapala and Ajijic, Mexico benefit the dental program for the boys at Hope House in the nearby village of Ixlahuacan. There are close to 30 boys at the home and many of them come to the home having received no dental treatment. If you live here at Lakeside and would like to order a quality, hand crafted card for a special occasion and help me contribute to this worthy cause, please e-mail me at bettyinchapala@yahoo.com Card price is 50 pesos; the entire sales price is donated to Hope House.

A Grandson Chuckle

No card to share today but had to tell you something Ashton told me today. They were playing at the park and I was talking to him on my daughter's cell phone. All of a sudden he said, "BeeBee, I've got to put you in my pocket so I can go down the slide!". And that's just what he did!
Hope you all have a terrific week!

Howdy!

I have to admit that I was a bit intimidated making this card. The challenge at PaperPlayChallenges was to use black as your card base. I have a lot of black and white dp in storage that I would have used but alas, I had to go with the plain black. Decided to use a new Cuttlebug folder from the Winter Wonderland set and filled in the squares with a Sakura clear gel glitter pen. The image is from MelJens -- he was all dressed up to play cowboy but it was wet outside so Mom made him put on his golashes; but the spurs fit so he was okay with that!! MelJens is the sponsor of the challege at PaperPlayChallenges so check it out and maybe you can win some of these sweet images too! I'm also going to enter this card in the PaperCutzChallenge which is any theme, any color!

Birthday Wishes

Another card today with a cute MelJens Designs image that I think will be a terrific card for Operation Write Home. I simply cannot get enough of MelJens images -- they are soooo cute! The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Everyday Button Bits. I will be entering this card in the following challenges:
Truly Scrumptious 49-- to use the colors brown, pink and green
Stamp Something Challenge -- use cute somethings
Fab 'N Funky Challenge -- animal magic

See ya later,

Hearts for Speedy's Friends

I have two cards with hearts on them which is the challenge over at Speedy's Friends blog. My first card may not be traditional valentine colors, but orange is my grandson Ashton's favorite color so this will be his valentine. I jotted down the author of this digi when I printed it out but can I find it now????? Of course not! Thought I could find it again at Free Digital Stamps but must be overlooking it somehow -- sorry I can't give credit.

This card was made with the sketch challenge at StampTV. I used three different Gina K. Designs sets -- Wild at Heart, Spring Mix, and Fanciful Tags. Red rhinestones are in the middle of the hearts and the white background is embossed with Cuttlebug's Candy Cane Stripes. I will enter this in the "pink and red" challenge at MelJens Designs. I stamped the flower in white on Real Red cardstock but it looks much more pink than it does white.

Thanks for stopping by,
Betty

Deck the Halls

I have one more Christmas card made, my friends!! The sketch is from Christmas Card Challenges, Week #7 (see sketch below) and the color combo is from Just Us Girls 67 to use aqua, coral, and green. The pine tree branch is from Flourishes, All That Glitters and the digital stamp is from MelJens Designs -- one of the images I won recently! The background was done with a Cuttlebug embossing folder, one of the Winter Wonderland set.
It's colder today and we've got a drizzling rain; someone's supposed to come look at the house this afternoon; hope the weather doesn't deter them!

Love, Love, Love

This valentine was made for two challenges: Annabelle Stamps say it in Red and White; and Speedy's Friends -- to use hearts on your card.

The patterned paper was made with Annabelle Stamps Backgrounds by Design2 and the heart images come from GTC's Crafty Corner. I also used some sheer red ribbon that I found at Big Lots.

Wanted to say Congrats! to a friend of mine, Mary Anne, who was a winner recently at Speedy the Cat's Friends Blog Hop! Way to go, Mary Anne!! Won't you have fun getting a sneak peek at one of the coming new releases!

We're In Mississippi

We had a safe trip to Mississippi today; no rain, not much traffic, but I found out that it's a much longer trip when you have a 7 yr old and a 4 yr old along for the ride! Ashton and Brianna have been having lots of fun exploring new things here at my sister's.

Ashton's favorite has been the fireplace. He loves backing up to it and getting his back side all toasty and warm. A rocking chair in front of it works pretty well too!

Brianna has made a new friend here. His name is Biskit and he likes anyone who has a lap! The only trouble is, Brianna's lap doesn't stay still for too long at one time!
