Hope House Home for Boys

The cards that I sell here in Chapala and Ajijic, Mexico benefit the dental program for the boys at Hope House in the nearby village of Ixlahuacan. There are close to 30 boys at the home and many of them come to the home having received no dental treatment. If you live here at Lakeside and would like to order a quality, hand crafted card for a special occasion and help me contribute to this worthy cause, please e-mail me at bettyinchapala@yahoo.com Card price is 50 pesos; the entire sales price is donated to Hope House.

Paper Ruffles

Hello, friends! I'm back this evening to report on my attempt to do the paper ruffle technique. I am proud of myself for attempting it, and for persevering through it, and I think my card looks pretty good (can you hear the "but" coming????) BUT, having said all that, I will not be spending this amount of time trying to do it again. My first strip of ruffles went in the trash can, the second and third ones looked a little better but I definitely had trouble getting plumping out the ruffles and getting the pleated top edges to lay down flat on my card. I don't want to discourage anyone from trying the technique -- I do much better with something new if I have someone show it to me directly or on a video; so, your attempt may go much more smoothly than mine -- right, Patti????  Let me know how it goes for you -- but you don't have to gloat!! lol

Oh, yes, forgot to say that the beautiful image came from The Graphics Fairy.

You did a splendid job on the ruffle. your card is lovely.
Sometimes it is always fun to try a new technique once and then go on from there.

Betty,
I see nothing wrong with the ruffles, I can however relate to your story. LOL Not sure I would have tried this one. I think its beautiful though.

Your card is gorgeous and that is a beautiful image! It is definitely more of an effort than it looked like in the tutorial, that is why I said not to look too closely at mine since they were not as nice as hers were, but I want to try this again and I am sure it will be better the second time around. Glad you tried it and hope you will again. We will show this technique that it can't win!!!
