Hope House Home for Boys

The cards that I sell here in Chapala and Ajijic, Mexico benefit the dental program for the boys at Hope House in the nearby village of Ixlahuacan. There are close to 30 boys at the home and many of them come to the home having received no dental treatment. If you live here at Lakeside and would like to order a quality, hand crafted card for a special occasion and help me contribute to this worthy cause, please e-mail me at bettyinchapala@yahoo.com Card price is 50 pesos; the entire sales price is donated to Hope House.

Hinge Card

I made a hinge card this weekend for a friend's birthday. You can find the tutorial here on Paper Craft Planet.

The following picture shows how it looks when the hinge is open.

We got together with friends for the Super Bowl game last night. Those of us who don't follow football had fun playing Mexican Train and, of course, eating all the goodies that were there. Larry made seafood gumbo that was enjoyed heartily by everyone but we also had homemade submarine sandwiches, cole slaw, potato salad, different types of salmon appetizers, chips and salsa, banana bread, and pound cake.

Some of our friends entered the Margarita Contest at Lake Chapala's annual Chili Cook-Off last year and took home the honor of Lakeside's #1 Margarita. They will be entering again this year (later this month) and we previewed the new margarita "formula" -- I think it may be better than last year's! We'll have to wait and see if the rest of Lakeside agrees with me.

Hope you're having a great day; it's sunny and warm here today!

Betty,
Such a vision in the pretty pastels, love the ribbon treatment and that fabulous trinket to pull the card opened. Your Superbowl night sounds fun. I stopped following football when we moved from IL to WI and didn't even realize it was Superbowl. Where am I?

Love the design of your card. Sounds like a fun party, Betty. Should be by on a more regular schedule now that we are settled in FL for a few weeks. Hugs!
