Hope House Home for Boys

The cards that I sell here in Chapala and Ajijic, Mexico benefit the dental program for the boys at Hope House in the nearby village of Ixlahuacan. There are close to 30 boys at the home and many of them come to the home having received no dental treatment. If you live here at Lakeside and would like to order a quality, hand crafted card for a special occasion and help me contribute to this worthy cause, please e-mail me at bettyinchapala@yahoo.com Card price is 50 pesos; the entire sales price is donated to Hope House.

Embossed Cards

Flourishes is having a Christmas Spirit Challenge and the inspiration photo is below left. My card appears on the right. First, I embossed the speckled white cardstock with a Cuttlebug folder, from a set of six called Winter Wonderland. Hope that the embossing shows up on the photo (you may need to click on the card to enlarge it). The stamps are from Flourishes; the ornament from All That Glitters and the sentiment from Christmas Music. The pretty ribbon with sparkly lines is a Garden Ridge Christmas ribbon. The ornament also has a bit of sparkly -- I went over the curly-q lines with a Sakura jelly roll glitter pen. Used Nestabilities dies and sponged around the edges with red. I woke up at 6 am this morning and couldn't get back to sleep (I know, Olga, for you, it would be oversleeping!!) so I was glad to find this challenge on my Blogger Dashboard and I was really happy with the finished card.

On to the next one.......

I had made two of these flowers for Olga's Roses August Challenge but only used one. Fab N Funky is having a challenge to go mad for embossing. My white card stock is embossed with a Cuttlebug folder, Scroll Works. Then I took my flower apart and ran the layers through the Big Shot in Cuttlebug's Swiss Dots folder. Found a ribbon in my stash with dots that match the flower and the card base (lucky me!) and it was complete!

It's an overcast day here (second in a row) -- wouldn't you know -- we got our solar panels installed and the sun has decided to hide. Actually, we did generate some electricity yesterday, but less than half of what we had made the day before when it was sunny! Come on, Mr. Sun, I'm ready to do my part to reduce my electric bill!
