Hope House Home for Boys

The cards that I sell here in Chapala and Ajijic, Mexico benefit the dental program for the boys at Hope House in the nearby village of Ixlahuacan. There are close to 30 boys at the home and many of them come to the home having received no dental treatment. If you live here at Lakeside and would like to order a quality, hand crafted card for a special occasion and help me contribute to this worthy cause, please e-mail me at bettyinchapala@yahoo.com Card price is 50 pesos; the entire sales price is donated to Hope House.

Surprising Birthday

Here is a birthday card made with the sketch from Day 3 of Card Positioning Systems 5th Anniversary. We do have a few families in our church with younger families even though most of us are of the retired sort! I've made this card for one of the younger ladies.

Paper is from a Stampin' Up designer paper pack, the focal sentiment is stamped on Gina K. Designs Ocean Mist card stock in SU Taken With Teal ink and sponged with SU Tempting Turquoise ink. The sentiment is from the  GKD set Eclectic Summer Sayings. Spellbinders scalloped rectangle dies were used for cutting.

I would also like to enter this card into the Sassy Cheryl's 100th challenge to use a punch and and somsething shimmery. The butterfly was punched in the Ocean Mist card stock for the bottom layer and a piece of patterned paper for the top layer. Then I used Perfect Pearls to give my butterfly that pretty shimmer. Congrats to the Sassy Cheryl gang on their 100th challenge!

We had a few couples over to our house last Saturday night for a potluck supper and a few rounds of Catch Phrase, one of our favorite games. One of the couples brought us a beautiful gift -- a carved gourd. Not only is it beauitful, they filled it with Jolly Rancher candies!! Herschel is quite an accomplished wood carver but since wood is hard to find here, he has started carving gourds. We're invited to their home this afternoon so I'll probably have more pictures of his wood carvings to show you -- I've heard that they are absolutely fantastic!

Adios,
Betty

Betty,
A breath of springtime with butterflies abound. Beautiful card.
I think there are many talented people there, from fabulous carvers to leather workers and painters. The one time I was in Mexico I was amazed by the many beautiful items for purchase.

Not only is your card amazing, so is this gift you received! You must see some awesome work from the local artists. Anyhow, love the way the striped background sets off your card!

Your card is beautiful and the gourd is amazing. Looks Navajo - very similar to a pot I have made by Navajo that lives in Farmington, New Mexico. So pretty!!!!
