Hope House Home for Boys

The cards that I sell here in Chapala and Ajijic, Mexico benefit the dental program for the boys at Hope House in the nearby village of Ixlahuacan. There are close to 30 boys at the home and many of them come to the home having received no dental treatment. If you live here at Lakeside and would like to order a quality, hand crafted card for a special occasion and help me contribute to this worthy cause, please e-mail me at bettyinchapala@yahoo.com Card price is 50 pesos; the entire sales price is donated to Hope House.

A Birthday Card

Here's my card for the latest challenge at Seize the Birthday. They are asking for a masculine card this week and the sketch follows:

My monochromatic card was made with papers by Martha Stewart and the bird and sentiment are (were) from Layers of Color. I purchased the die that automatically pierces as it cuts from Flourishes and the banner die is from Spellbinders.

Now, for a little color. We were walking in Ajijic yesterday and I thought I'd share some of the color we saw!

This is a storefront. Old tree stumps painted to draw attention to their store sit outside on the street.

Another tree stump (even bigger) inside the store, used to display their wares.

A painting displayed at an art exhibit. I love this painting -- it would not be out of the ordinary to stumble across this actual sort of scene as you walk in the area.

This is a stunning mural painted on the outside wall of a school.

Just an ordinary house front, painted in bright colors.

Yes, we truly live in a colorful place and I love it!!

How much fun to live somewhere surrounded by all that color and inspiration! I have no idea how anyone could ever sleep in a wheel barrow though. What do you think the neighborhood association would say if I painted the front of my house those colors??? teehee
Fabulous manly birthday card. I love the warbler image! Hadn't used mine in a while. Have a great day my friend!

Hi Betty,

I left this long comment a few days back, only to find that all of my comments were posting and then disappearing. It seems better now. Love your card, and just wanted ot say how lucky you are to live in such a colorful area. You have inspiration all around you!
